I have been writing poetry and prose for over four decades and I have made a selection of those works that are contained in a book I am in the process of making, named 'From the dungeon to consciousness'. It kind of reflects a part of the history of my life, which makes the book some sort of artistic autobiography. I have wasted close to a few decades on poetry sites, that basically are environments that are run by a self-appointed 'incrowd', that are under rigid control of the site owner, a.k.a. dictator, that has built a restrictive system, that fills his pockets with mandatory fees necessary for submitting poetry and prose of some kind. These are levels of freedom of the choice of fonts and layouts, that may or may not include images, while being raked higher in the listings, making the works easier to find. But you must pay for the perks.

This incrowd mob is not interested in the quality of the poetry that is submitted; they merely enjoy bullying others that are not part of their incrowd circle. New users are demanded to add a number of comments before being allowed to post poetry of their own. In addition there is a reward system that issues points to poets, that can be used to gain an increased leverage, like gaining some of the privileges as mentioned above. Such sites are poetry prisons, where users are scorned and plundered.
Most members become thoroughly fed up with these harsh system demands and the intimidating incrowd plonkers, but find it difficult to cancel their subscription, because there are few other places on the Internet where they can submit poetry to a more or less large audience. It is a thing under the direction of people's egos, but at some point their aversion to the way in which such sites are governed, they just leave and never return. Where poets have complete freedom to post whatever they feel is fit for submission in any form the prefer, is to start a website of their own. There is no annoying incrowd, no absurd limiting rules and most importantly, no dictatorial site owner, that demands fees for every privilege he extends. This is what I did, like many others. You find my site here. You may want to take a peek when you have time.
